Rwanda as developing country through the ministry of Sports decide to be a hub of sports and entertainment, driven by visionary government strategy, world-class infrastructure,hosting world class event and their Sports development strategy is to promote vibrant and sustainable sport sector by fostering winning culture, creating economic opportunities. It also aims to foster sporting culture that promotes healthy lifestyles, achieve sports excellence and contribute to social and economic development. And building of world class infrastructure by increasing new Sports venues, Giymnasium, street pitches and renewing existed Also partnership with world class Clubs and Other projects.
Sports Infrastructure
Amahoro National Stadium (renovated 2022–24): Now seating 45,000, this iconic stadium blends cultural aesthetics with high-performance facilities complete with VIP boxes, athletic tracks, dining outlets and has already hosted multinational matches, concerts, CAF/FIFA competitions and more.
BK Arena (formerly Kigali Arena):East Africa’s premier indoor venue with a 10,000-seat capacity, it’s hosted BAL finals, Afro basket 2021, volleyball championships, concerts and high-profile events like the 73rd FIFA Congress.
Other venues from the Nyamirambo (Pele) Stadium to cricket ovals and cycling centres are expanding Rwanda's capacity to host diverse sporting codes.

Other Projects Including:
1. Upgrading/renovating national and regional sports venues—Amahoro, BK Arena, complexes in Huye, Rubavu, Gasabo, Musanze and school & community centers .
2. Stimulating sports tourism and creating economic value leverage world class venues to host global events and attract visitors .
3. Boosting talent pipelines: establish camps, centers of excellence, certification programs, high-performance units .
4. Engaging public-private partnerships, mobilizing private investment, and generating revenue through commercializing venues notably skyboxes, retail, naming rights .
5. Promoting accessible and inclusive sports ensuring equity by gender and ability, and enabling mass participation.
Within the National Strategy for Transformation NST2 “Visit Rwanda” sports is pivotal for Doubling tourism revenue via sporting events. Creating green jobs and enhancing skills in sports management, facilities, and events.
Role of the Ministry of Sports
Setting standards, maintaining infrastructure quality, and ensuring equitable access. Managing 33 sports federations and coordinating talent development pipelines.
Promoting high-performance sport and nurturing national teams.
Fostering sustainability through partnerships with organizations like Giants of Africa (Zaria Court), Arsenal, PSG, Bayern Munich (Visit Rwanda).

Impact
Amahoro, BK Arena, cycling and cricket venues attract international event circuits like Tour du Rwanda, UCI World Championships, FIA Motorsports Assembly.
Sports-tourism revenue (2023) reached $95M, with 160 events drawing 65,000 delegates .
These investments ripple across transport (Bugesera airport), hospitality, job creation, and global branding are also expected.
Also build upcoming anchors like Zaria Court, upgraded school/community centers, and continued infrastructural excellence.
